Now I see a person institute is inspired by conversations and share thoughts about different understandings of depression psychosis anxiety and other symptoms traditionally viewed in mental illness narratives this podcast for us reflects the courageous journey of someone who experienced severe trauma and concurrent symptoms but because they were not labeled with a diagnosis they were able to protect their personhood and ability to make decisions on them being a person rather than a diagnosis.More and more symptoms are being seen as created from trauma and that they served as a positive purpose in someone’s journey to ‘wellness’.

Dear friends,

A father approached us to share his family’s story with their involvement in the mental health system. He describes his experience as a parent being coerced into making decisions that he did not agree with such as his daughter being given multiple diagnoses and multiple medications.

He makes a passionate plea for other parents to be an informed consumer of mental health services and for parents to do their research even when they feel like there are no alternatives.

Some people have written on this as the troubled teen industry. This particular young person was considered by professionals as not able to get well. The father discusses several items that are controversial and these include conservatorship, hospitalizations and medicines. Dear friends,

At the end of the year we at Now I See A Person Institute are fortunate and thankful to walk with people and their families through severe trauma and severe symptoms, and to witness these experiences dissipating and transforming into new experiences and lives. These experiences and lives represent sustainable healing and transformation.

No longer is one bound to a diagnosis or fearing this narrative will not change. No longer is ending one’s life or fearing their life will not return to normality is a thought.

These wonderful heroes and heroines graciously allowed us to participate in their healing process. To this we are honored and grateful.

May 2023 bring opportunities for Now I See A Person Institute to collaborate with people who unfortunately have been bound to hopelessness. Recovery is possible as is hope.

Below are the stories from a mother and daughter who found themselves in a very hopeless place. Today they are not there and they are living their preferred lives without a label. Dear friends, This year we co-created, due to re

Dear friends,

This year we co-created, due to requests from clients and trainees, podcasts of our clients healing and podcasts of faculty and thoughts on training.

We participated in the Taos Gathering to help colleagues share our ideas and we embrace passionate learning communities

We embraced new learners through our ICCP interested in working through lenses of one human to another in transcending and transforming from life-threatening environments

We aided clients severing ties to chronicity through shedding labels and celebrating their achievements and successes in living beyond their expectations

We added Service Area 6 to our service areas to where we practice and we added in the home therapy, in people’s gardens.

In 2023 our hopes are to increase our staff and capacities 50% and 100% in funding. We are working on multiple writing venues to help our field and clients.

We are so grateful to what we have all learnt from our evolving conversations and it recharges our energy for participating with people voices and fostering being heard and renews the importance of social justice in all that we do.

At Now I See A Person Institute, we attempt to collaborate with our clients to make this process supportive, and less frightening and make each session a beacon of hope. This is accomplished through having a team of clinicians and life coaches who have the time to help individuals and families design the type of services best suited for them. No one receives identical services and the people and their families are true collaborators in their views and goals. It can be hard for people who have labels or who have a family member with labels, and often they feel like they cannot shed nor be their own separate person from the label.
